Family Case Study 

Mr C telephoned the helpline as “I started a new job the same day that my partner told me that she wanted to split up.  I needed advice on how it would affect my finances if we did separate”. 

Mr C spoke to an advisor who explained that “As I have 2 children, the advisor made it clearer to me how it would affect us if we did eventually separate”.  Asked whether our advice had helped him to resolve the problem, Mr C replied “although we have yet to decide definitely to separate, the information was very useful”.  Mr C also stated that “I will use (the service) again in the future”.

When asked how he knew about the service, Mr C replied that “at the induction day we are told about it and a manual is sent through the post when you start with all the benefits listed”.

Mr C said he would recommend the service to other members as he felt that “it is a really useful service and enable me to cope both at home and at work”.  He rated the service very highly in all aspects from the initial call handling to the ease of discussing the issue with the advisor and quality of the advice he was given.
